The Heart of the Home

Freestanding and Fitted Shaker Kitchens

We design and build stunning traditional kitchens that stand the test of time. Every single design is unique and perfectly tailored to your requirements and kitchen style. No two Unfitted kitchens are the same.

Unfitted kitchens are unique.

Each run of free standing kitchen cabinets is constructed as a single piece of furniture (just like a traditional sideboard), eliminating double width posts and separate end panels. This design detail ensures maximum storage space and a superior, high quality finish.

Skilled joiners employed in our own workshops create all furniture from scratch and there’s no surcharge for custom sized cabinets, guaranteeing clients a very practical kitchen that’s going to bring so much enjoyment for years to come.

Cabinets and cupboards are delivered fully finished ready for final installation saving you time and money.

Using time-honoured construction methods crafted by the original Shaker carpenters ensures that all our kitchen units, cupboards and cabinets will stand the test of time, something our clients always expect.

Visit our workshops in the Cotswolds and you’ll see our highly experienced craftsmen at their benches hand-building and finishing kitchen furniture to the highest standards.

For example, we use mortise and tenon joints throughout the cabinets and cupboards and dovetailed hardwood drawer boxes to guarantee furniture of the highest quality.

To create high quality furniture our fascias are all made from hardwood tulipwood, the best wood to use for a painted kitchen because of its combination of strength, stability and knot-free grain always produces a superb painted finish.

Beautifully Crafted Furniture to Compliment Your Home

Our workshops are located in the Cotswolds and the West Midlands. Each workshop is staffed by a highly skilled and experienced team of joiners, cabinet makers and finishers. Each of our cupboards is a fully hand-built five-sided cube, biscuit-jointed and then glued and screwed for maximum rigidity and durability. Whether you have a large or small kitchen, we ensure every detail is perfect.

Having our own workshops allows us to guarantee precise quality and gives us control over delivery timescales. It also gives us the ability to adjust to any unique requirements you may have. We make all of our furniture to order, and we regularly make entirely unique, bespoke pieces to suit a client’s specific brief.

Shaker Style Kitchens

We use time-honoured construction methods crafted by the original Shaker carpenters. The key characteristic of a shaker kitchen is the style of cabinet door using a flat panel inset into a square frame.

This style of kitchen door can work with both traditional kitchen styles like a country kitchen, as well as with modern, minimalist designs. Whatever finish you choose for your kitchen will look fantastic with this style of door. You can have your drawer fronts also inset to match the doors, or flat. Whichever suits your chosen kitchen style the best.

For example, we use mortise and tenon joints throughout the cabinets and cupboards and dovetailed hardwood drawer boxes to guarantee furniture of the highest quality.

FAQs

Here's some of the most frequently asked questions about our freestanding kitchen units.

What do you mean by 'bespoke'?

Bespoke means that it is designed and built to fit perfectly and to suit you and your home. We are not selecting from standard cabinets and using filler panels at the end of each run. Our talented designers will come up with something uniquely you, and we will make each cabinet exactly the right size to fit perfectly in the space it was designed for.

What do you mean by 'freestanding kitchen units'?

The units we produce are complete pieces of furniture, they arrive as solid units to be positioned within your kitchen, without the need to attach it to the walls or construct any flat-packed furniture.

We can help you plan your kitchen and order units for specific spaces, but with an unfitted kitchen you are free to move your furniture around should you wish to and even take it with you when you move home.

Where are your kitchens produced?

Everything is created in our workshops located in the Cotswolds and the West Midlands.

Do you offer home consultations?

Yes - although we are based in the Cotswolds, we offer a completely free service to design your kitchen anywhere in the UK.

Do you offer a guarantee on your kitchens?

Yes - all kitchens come with a 10 year guarantee to give you peace of mind. The guarantee covers all units, doors, hinges and handles.

Where is the wood sourced from to manufacture your kitchens?

We only use wood from responsible origins and are focused on making all of our kitchens as environmentally friendly as possible.

We only use timber and sheet materials which are deemed to be ethical and which carry certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or the Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) who promote sustainably managed forests worldwide. We do not use any tropical hardwoods.

Can you help me with unfitted kitchen ideas?

Some clients have a really clear idea in their head of what they want for their kitchen. We are passionate about good design. Having another set of eyes look at the project often opens up fresh design ideas and possibilities that clients hadn’t previously considered.

If you don't know what you're looking for then our designers have decades of experience designing kitchens for all sorts of properties.

If you need more inspiration for your new kitchen then we have a showroom full of ideas to help you fulfil your dreams of the perfect kitchen.

Do you re-use designs, or will my kitchen be unique?

Every kitchen is a slightly different size and shape, and each client is unique. We rarely find clients want the same things from their kitchens and so far every kitchen has been unique.
Skilled joiners employed in our own workshops create all furniture from scratch and there’s no surcharge for custom sized cabinets, guaranteeing clients a very practical kitchen that’s going to bring so much enjoyment for years to come.
